Dr. Norman Alcock passed away on March 11, 2007. Though a nuclear physicist in his early years, he created the Canadian Peace Research Institute, the first organization of its kind in the world. For the next 25 years he and his wife Pat, along with a group of other researchers, studied and advocated for peace. Later, in retirement, Norman lived in the countryside and pursued another interest -- the convergence of science and spirituality. He received the Order of Canada in 2004. He belonged to Science for Peace and Pugwash.
