VANCOUVER--A broad and geographically representative meeting of delegates from peace groups across the country has agreed to organize a convention to found a new Canadian peace alliance.
The convention will be held in Toronto on November 8, 9, and 10, 1985. The Vancouver meeting reached unanimous agreement on some of the main purposes of the proposed new body. These would be to increase net working and information exchange, provide a national forum for debate of issues, and facilitate the organizing of joint activities between groups.
The future planning process has been designed to include the widest possible discussion by peace groups leading to the November convention.
Groups at the Vancouver planning committee meeting were from almost all regions of Canada and existing national peace groups. A further planning meeting will be held in Ottawa this June.
