Peace Signs: The Anti-War Movement Illustrated

Zürich: Edition Olms AG, 2004

Art Spiegelman's illustration "Roll Up Your Sleeves, America!" [illustrated in print version of Peace Magazine] appeared during the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 as one of Syracuse (NY) Cultural Workers' projects. It is one of the 230 full-color anti-war posters reproduced in Peace Signs: The Anti-War Movement Illustrated (Zürich: Edition Olms AG, 2004, distributed in North America by Trafalgar Square Publishing, PO Box 257, Howe Hill Rd, North Pomfret, VT 05053, USA). The posters and other anti-war graphics in this large-format softcover book were collected from anti-war events around the world, mainly during the 2003 war. Thought-provoking essays on the history of anti-war art and on anti-copyright issues, together with a foreword by celebrated US movement historian Howard Zinn, appear in English, French, and German.
